Ordinary Love

Jane: So now you all have that Sade song on your head, and you’re welcome. I’ve been known to wax romantic about majestic trees and dramatic vistas, but lately I’ve started paying a little more attention to the ordinary and the overlooked. Recently, I found myself absorbed by a patch of lichen the size of a postage stamp, no less remarkable than the dazzling display of autumn leaves. Even the tiniest, most mundane thing can be extraordinary, if we give it our full attention. So, with that in mind, we’ll spend this practice attending to the smallest, most inconsequential parts of our experience, and see whether we can conjure up some ordinary love.
